Thanksgiving Day 2016

24 Nov

Location: New York City. A 6 a.m. email from Darq: I’ve only got a few minutes before I have to leave for the Macy’s parade, but I wanted to wish all who celebrate it a Happy Thanksgiving.

I know the sign I’m holding blocks  everyone fromseeing my outfit. It’s not any Earth design but a design Catherine made based on one of the pictures I gave her of my homeworld’s un-haute couture. LOL

Anyway, here’s a better look at this coat-dress and the matching shoes. (I love these shoes, so comfortable!)

Well, I have to go, the MIB [Men In Black] have a limo waiting to take me to the highrise where I’ll have a great view to look down the avenue as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade goes by. I’ll see every float – especially looking forward to how huge Buzz Lightyear, Kermit the Frog, and Snoopy will be.

Okay, so there will be thirty floats, a dozen marching bands, 1500 dancers, and if Agent DD did her calculations correctly, some 8,000 participants. Plus the streets will be lined with people. I’m so excited.

Agent DD– Darq! Get a move on!

DARQ: Coming! (then madly types) Gotta go– I’m out of here!

CATHERINE: And that’s where her email to me ended. Oh, but later, I got another email from Darq and this picture–

Seems Darq bought a souvenir for me–a coffee table book. It’s a pictorial history of the Macy Parade* from the first one on Christmas 1924 to present day.  Trouble is, I don’t own a coffee table!

NOTE TO SEWERS: I’d seen the flipped back lapel on a top with narrow pants underneath but I figured it should be easy enough to add a another couple rounds on the “skirt.” Getting the angle right from the get-go was the hard part.

About the Macy’s coffee table book when I researched the parade website for information and statistics, the site had the book offered for sale.

*********************special notice*****************

Darq will be spending Christmas with Catherine and wearing another Wysotti un-haute couture design. However, she’s going to a art nouveau themed New Year’s Eve Party, and —

in January she plans on having tea with Mrs. Baker, a witch with a bakery in England who blogs here https://smithandskarry.wordpress.com/ on Wednesdays. It’s steampunk fun and a new steampunk outfit for Darq because she’ll be baking with Mrs. B.

The next posting will be Christmas Day. Until then, have a happy Thanksgiving! –Catherine

Hi, Lenora, Nice to hear from you who live way out in Washington State. I couldn’t have asked for a better outfit to wear today. Although it was a chilly outside, the apartment was warm and the view through the picture windows was nothing short of fantastic. The best part was watching Santa arrive. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day. DARQ

Darq, it sounds like you had a fantastically fantabulous day! I made chili, and watched the wind play with the leaves and the squirrels outside my home. In honor of Santa’s arrival, I made Arctic Chili 😉
